Our kids have had a tough couple of years with Covid; home schooling, isolation, restrictions on gatherings and the list goes on..... As an adult, sometimes it get's overwhelming which can be the same for our kids. This generation of kids also face a lot of pressure from social media. They are more prone to getting caught up with comparing themselves to others. This can lead to anxiety and feelings of being inadequate. With this in mind, we've developed this craft and connect program. The aim of this weekly group is to help your child create and connect. We believe through the process of connecting with others in a supportive, fun, creative way, your kids gets to slow down, be more present, build confidence and see more possibility.
Our aim is to provide a supportive space where your child can tap into their creativity, and connect with others, where there's no pressure to be anything else but themselves, and to help them see that they are enough just the way they are.
We will offer a range of crafting activities from pompom making to polymer clay, pot painting and weaving. Your child will leave each week feeling more supported, and hopefully more energised and armed to tackle whatever life throws their way.

A little about me.
I'm a psychologist who is obsessed with making/creating. I have a partner and three boys (twins aged 14, and an 12 year old). My partner is also a psychologist and because of our own experience and our professional lives, we have an insight into some of the struggles kids and teens face.
There's lots of evidence now that suggests improving social connection and creativity can be protective factors against anxiety and depression. When we create, we slow down and become more grounded in the present rather than worrying about what's happened in the past or what might happen in the future. Creativity helps us build our confidence by seeing possibilities.
Lauren (the other half of Mustlove) who is an artist will bring her creative skills and ideas to the group. She will be stepping in on occasion with some painting and weaving projects.
P.S This is not a forum for individual therapy but I'm hoping that being around like minded teens, feeling supported, talking about real stuff, and doing some fun creative projects, that it will feel a bit therapeutic.
